24 hr comics

Sat Oct 18, 2008, 7:35 PM
Ahoy, I took part in this year's 24 hour comics challenge(to the uninitiated, you plot, illustrate, and complete a 24 page comic in 24 hours). Thanks to Artrage and the Fremante Film and Television Institute for hosting such a great event! This was my first 24 hour comic, so i really felt like i learned a lot while doing it.
I'll post some of my favorite pages from the comic up here in a day or so.

Also, finally finishing uni, in three weeks. yay.

  • Mood: Suffering
  • Listening to: Othello - Elevator Music (great album)
  • Reading: Cerebus
  • Watching: The Office Season 5
  • Drinking: Breakfast Juice

That's cool, a 24 hour comic is something I've always wanted to try doing. Maybe with all the free time I have now I should do one. In fact I will.

What about the comic you were working on (from those sketches you posted)?

Only the 13 pages, I haven't taken a look at it since. Working at JB has been intense, as Shelley can probably relate :)
Still, I'll hopefully be able to finish it and post it soon. In the meantime, I need to take a gander at yours...

Any time I tried to talk to the bosses about getting local stuff in, it was left up to me to sort out. Only thing was I had very little time in which to maintain that side of things. :P

You can try and ask them, but it'd probably only be on commission - since you're in QC weekly, it shouldn't be a prob. Plus, any money you make could possibly go towards store credit! ........ don't tell 'em I said that :D

Also, try in at Oxford Books in Leederville - in recent years they were quite supportive of the whole 24 hr comics. Let me know how it all goes, too :)
